The Van der Valk Hotel Volendam is a modern complex situated one kilometre from the old town of Volendam and 15 kilometres from Amsterdam city centre. This three storey hotel features 129 guestrooms, all of which include modern cream decor with floral fabrics. All rooms have balconies, televisions, telephones, desks, fax machines, safes and clock radios. Bathrooms have showers and tubs.
The hotel's Katwoude Restaurant offers seasonal international and regional specialities and an array of wines, served in a traditional setting with dark wood furnishings, white tablecloths and views of the countryside. Evening meals can also be ordered to guestrooms using room service (7 a.m. to 11 p.m.). There is a special 'Timo Toucan Menu' for children. Guests at the hotel can take a swim in the pool, work out in the fitness room or practice their serve on the tennis courts, before unwinding in the sauna, solarium and Turkish baths. The patio provides an attractive and relaxing retreat overlooking the garden, while other practical amenities include dry cleaning, currency exchange, laundry facilities and free on site parking for those arriving by car. The hotel is well situated for visiting Volendam and the surrounding area; Volendam's Museum, shops and canals are a kilometre away, while the busy city of Amsterdam is 15 kilometres distant. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is 30 minutes by car, 35 kilometres (22 miles) from the hotel.

There is a railway station in the terminal's central hall, under Schiphol Plaza; direct trains run to Amsterdam Centraal Station approximately every 15 minutes. From here one can take Bus 110 to Volendam. Schiphol Travel Taxis are available from outside the arrivals hall. Public buses also run regularly to Amsterdam and other cities. Hiring a bicycle is a more adventurous way to explore the delights of Volendam.
Driving directions: From the airport take the A4 for Amsterdam, then the A10 ring north, exit Volendam N247 and take a right at the first roundabout. The hotel is on the right.
